94. Dasoham

To feel within, ‘soham’ or ‘He is me,’ is arrogance.
To speak out, ‘Shivoham,’ or ‘I’m Shiva,’
is also arrogance.
Ending this duality,
Kapila-siddha-mallikarjuna, Shiva,
make me say ‘dasoham,’ or ‘I am your slave,’
— Siddha-rameshwara

Insight

It is essential to drop individuality. Even when I say ‘Soham’ or ‘Shivoham,’ (‘He is me;’ ‘I’m Shiva,’ ) individuality is not entirely subdued. ‘

Focus

Shiva, let me be your slave, As your slave I’ve no mind of my own; I cease to exist. You alone exist. Only awareness shines out.

GIVE & SERVE
Kaayaka or honest work results in honest wages. A part of it goes to meet the personal needs and a part goes to serve the Jangamas, the wandering mendicants devoted to Shiva. Jangama stands for anything that moves and daasoha is serving all the living organisms as a daasa or a slave of Shiva.
